Of course it is. You can't even imagine the number of arguments I've had online with people who say (they're lying) that there is no difference between people and animals (I always bring up rats in those discussions and ask if a rat's life is as valuable as a human beings, invariably, they say yes).
A thousand years ago, our cultural ancestors prayed, "From the fury of the Northmen, Lord, protect us!"

Today, we ought to pray, "From the tender mercies and caring solicitude of the Good Intentioned, Lord, protect us!"
