omThis is as ridiculous as anything I've seen in ages, and it cracks me up, totally. But I can't figure out whether they're trying to get a drink, or stop the intruder!
I've been trying to find a video for you, of Jack Russell Terriers racing -- as they do at the D.C. Horse Show -- but so far the clips I've found don't do it justice. There is a site with some good snapshots (and some useless video clips) but if you can imagine that the antics in the stills are fairly representative of what goes on with half the dogs, while the other half are chasing the lure into the hole at the end of the course, you can see why this is a favorite event.
A thousand years ago, our cultural ancestors prayed, "From the fury of the Northmen, Lord, protect us!"
. . .
Today, we ought to pray, "From the tender mercies and caring solicitude of the Good Intentioned, Lord, protect us!"

I couldn't figure out just what they were thinking/intending, either.
