I'm not sure if you bothered by people commenting on old posts, but I thought you may be interested to know that the quote is very similar to a G K Chesterton line concerning the evolutionary mindset that inspires faith in the dead hand of Progress:
"Progress is Providence without God. That is, it is a theory that everything has always perpetually gone right by accident. It is a sort of atheistic optimism, based on an everlasting coincidence far more miraculous than a miracle."
A thousand years ago, our cultural ancestors prayed, "From the fury of the Northmen, Lord, protect us!"
. . .
Today, we ought to pray, "From the tender mercies and caring solicitude of the Good Intentioned, Lord, protect us!"

I'm not bothered at all; welcome.
And, thank you for the quote.
