I wonder if I should be more in awe of Dawkins' dishonesty, his poor arguments, or just his general yutzery.

In a way, though, he's doing everyone a service. I can't imagine a worse leader and public face for atheism (possibly Dennett, just because of the whole Brights fiasco, which I think he came up with.) Though when he spouts off like this, I end up having a drastically lower opinion of anyone who admires or looks up to the man, as if that were possible.

I should dig up and post my analysis/smackdown of Dawkins' "Dangerous Idea"

Go right ahead, I'd enjoy reading it. Though at this point, really - is there anything left to smack down? Even the louder internet atheists no longer run plays from Dawkins', Dennett's, Hitchens' or Harris' books - there's just been too many philosophers, theologians, apologists, and whatever Vox Day tearing into that meat. There's little left for atheists aside from sneering and shouting, and even the sneering's harder to do after that recent meltdown over at Dawkins' website.

Like I said, I think Dawkins' has pretty much been a boon to the religious in the long run. My agnostic friends have more than once blurted out to me "Holy crap, atheists are ***holes!" since the fiasco began.

Here's a recent article by Denyse O'Leary you may find of interest: None of the Above - All the Modern Explanations for Religion Except the Most Obvious

Great article, really. And it draws attention to the fact that a lot of modern "science" of that vein is little more than mythmaking.

Like he said about those millions who died under communism. I'm sure they didn't murder them all in the name of nothing, but either way, they're still dead.

Crude,
I've finally got around to posting that smackdown.
